Hole by hole
The 18-hole course is 6112 metres / 6884 yards long and is one of the most demanding and spectacular courses in Italy. The new bunkers and challenging greens enable players to experience a true championship course. The impressive Antognolla Castle overlooks the course, and provides a wonderful landmark focal point to many holes.
OUTWARD 9
HOLE 1
From the tee beware of the large fairway bunker on the left side, by keeping on the right side there is a better angle to the green avoiding the large bunker protecting the green.
HOLE 4
Accuracy is key from the tee, the fairway lies between the lake on the left and an out of bounds on the right. The green is elevated, so consider choosing a longer club on your approach shot. The green is on two levels with a slope from back to front, distance control is important.
HOLE 7
Choose accuracy over distance. On the right side lies an out of bounds, on the left a slope moves to deep rough at a much lower level than the green. The green itself is long and on two levels.
HOLE 2
This is a short par 4. Prioritise accuracy over distance from the tee, to leave a short iron or wedge to the green. The green is undulating and guarded on the left and right by bunkers.
HOLE 5
From the elevated tee a long hitter will clear the fairway bunker on the right. A more conservative strategy is to try to place the ball to the left or before the bunker. The green is heavily guarded so accuracy is key.
HOLE 8
On this tricky par 5 a cautious approach is best, pay attention to the big depression which cuts the fairway. On your second shot, look to position your ball on the left hand side of the fairway to avoid the severe slope and long grasses. The green is wide but beware of the out of bounds very close to the right hand side.
HOLE 3
The first par 3, from an elevated tee carefully consider your club selection. A conservative approach to the centre of the green will help to avoid the large greenside bunker.
HOLE 6
Uphill par 5, the slope of the fairway and the concealed bunker on the left suggests a tee shot to the right side of the fairway. The green is elevated, so consider choosing a longer club on the approach. The green is on two levels.
HOLE 9
Offering spectacular views of the castle and course, the tee position is elevated, consider choosing a shorter club. The bunker on the left side and the slope from right to the left suggests an alignment to the right side of the green.
INWARD 9
HOLE 10
Downhill dogleg to the right, a skilled player can line up a tee shot over the fairway bunkers. Use a conservative strategy and try to place the ball on the left side of the fairway playing with the slope downwards to the green. The green is large but protected by a bunker to the left.
HOLE 13
A long par 3, the tee position is elevated. The green is large and on two levels, it is well guarded by two bunkers, left and right.
HOLE 16
The better tee shot is towards the bunkers on the left side of the fairway. With a long approach shot target the right side of the green to avoid the deep bunkers on the left side. The green has a back to front slope.
HOLE 11
Uphill par 4, the fairway slope and the bunker on the left suggest an alignment to the right side. The green is elevated, consider choosing a longer club for your approach. The green is well defended by a bunker on the left and slopes from right to left.
HOLE 14
Uphill hole with a dogleg left turn. The tee shot requires care due to the bunker on the right side of fairway. The green is elevated and on two levels, consider choosing a longer club for your approach.
HOLE 17
This par 3 has a well elevated tee position, consider choosing a shorter club. The green is guarded by two bunkers on the left and slopes from back to front.
HOLE 12
The fairway is generous but a note of caution; the fairway is between bunkers on the left and an out of bounds on the right. With your second shot, look for the right side of the fairway to avoid the bunker and find a better angle to the green. The green is on two levels, guarded by deep bunkers on the left.
HOLE 15
Downhill dogleg to the right, you need a tee shot to the left of the fairway to avoid the trees on right side of green. The green is on two levels guarded by a large bunker to the right.
HOLE 18
The final hole in the foreground of Antognolla castle has a water hazard to the right of the fairway, so a tee shot to the left is favoured. The green is on three levels with water to the right, bunker on the left and trees to the back.
