Antognolla Golf stages V Antognolla Open tournament

Saturday 8th October marked Antognolla Golf’s fifth annual Antognolla Golf Open tournament. This year 90 competitors showcased their best golf in a bid to win the specially commissioned Antognolla Open Perpetual Cup. The winner crowned Absolute Champion of 2022 was Antognolla member Lars Spannenburg with 41 points.

 The Antognolla Open Tournament is an invite only event for members and business partners of Antognolla. It is a chance to showcase the spectacular resort and vision for the future. The golf course itself is a masterpiece, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, and has already garnered large acclaim as one of Italy’s best golf clubs.

 In addition to the tournament itself, the day also included a golfing masterclass led by our Head Golf Professional Zeke Martinez. Guests who wanted to learn more about the beautiful game or brush up on their swings were more than welcome to join in and learn from the pro.

 As has become tradition at Antognolla, guests were offered wine from the Famiglia Cotarella winery. Riccardo Cotarella, a well-known Italian oenologist and Antognolla’s vineyard consultant, contributed to Antognolla’s own wine production that should be added to the menu by 2027. Mr Cotarella also kindly provided each of the tournament winners with a bottle of his family’s delicious wine.

 In an address to the attendees during the ceremony, César Burguière, the club’s Director of Golf, said, “this is an important opportunity to thank you for your trust, constant presence and support that you provide us with each day at Antognolla. We appreciate your friendship and are grateful for the chance to share our continuing evolution with you. We work passionately every day to offer you the best services and to make your time playing golf the best experience possible. Like a fine wine, Antognolla Golf matures and gets better with each year, and we have no doubt that the VI Antognolla Open will be no exception”.

 In this vein, the historic 12th century Castello di Antognolla renovation is currently being transformed into the highly anticipated luxury 5-star hospitality resort. This stunning piece of Umbrian architecture provided the backdrop for the evening’s events, which were accompanied by the music of Paul Pedana. He is an Umbrian artist with international appeal and was nominated in 2020 at the Independent Music Awards in New York. His performance took place during the classic Antognolla cocktail party, perfectly rounding off the tournament.
